In 1965 she earned the Diplome, the highest degree in Dalcroze studies at the Institut Jacques-Dalcroze in Geneva, Switzerland. She is a graduate cum laude of Smith College and received a MM from New England Conservatory of Music in Orchestral Conducting. She created the internationally recognized Dalcroze Department at Longy.. In 2003, Lisa was awarded the first George Seaman award for excellence in teaching. She has given workshops in Dalcroze Eurhythmics in many European countries as well as Canada, Australia, Israel, Japan and Taiwan. She has taught at every International Congress at the Institut Jacques-Dalcroze since 1979. She is a frequent workshop leader in workshops throughout the United States. In master class format Dr. Alperson will coach soprano Shooka Afshan, cellist Jeremy Choi, and trumpet player Joe Klouses, guiding each of them to apply Dalcroze resources in the rehearsal setting. Join us for this vibrant creative application of the magic of Dalcroze! Dr. Ruth Alperson is a renowned Dalcroze clinician in the U.S. and internationally and also an active chamber music recitalist. She currently serves as Dean of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, New York and is on the faculty of the Dalcroze Program at Diller-Quaile.
